30.10.202612:21:37UTC+00Chile Industrial Output Falls for 2nd Month

Chile’s industrial production declined 2.7% year-on-year in September 2026, moderating from a 5.7% drop in August. The downturn was primarily driven by the mining sector, where output fell 8.7%, though this represented an improvement from the 11.7% contraction recorded in the previous month. Mining activity remained in negative territory for the second consecutive month, reflecting a 12% decrease in metallic mining and a 15.1% fall in copper extraction and processing.

By contrast, manufacturing output returned to growth, expanding 2% after a 2.6% decline in August, while utilities production rose 0.8%, slightly below the 1% increase seen previously. On a month-on-month basis, overall industrial production grew 2.7%, rebounding from a 2.2% contraction in August.
